Name abbreviations

I am working on German genealogy and have found two abbreviations for given names - Jois. and Joes. I have not been able to find out what they mean. Can anyone tell me if they are both abbreviations for Johannes, or would Joes. be an abbreviation for Joseph? Thanks!

Joes is likely an abbreviation of Johannes.

Jos Jois and Joes?

I have the same question... Jos and Jois are abbreviations for: Johannes/Joannes, but Joes represents Joseph.. at least that is what I have found on other sites where the same question was asked.
